We are located near some of the best horseback riding in Arkansas. From the property, you can saddle your horse or mule and ride into the 35,000 acre Lower Buffalo River Wilderness area. Nearby features include “tilting rock,” Big Creek and the Cold Springs School, a historic school building listed on the national register of historic places in a remote area of the Buffalo National River. The Cold Springs School is located at Cold Springs Hollow and is only accessible by foot, horseback or from the Buffalo National River. The school is a small single-story fieldstone structure, built circa 1935 with funding from the Works Progress Administration.

There are many miles of wilderness with old wagon roads and trails to enjoy. The entire Lower Buffalo River Wilderness Area is managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a wildlife management area and offers outstanding hunting opportunities for deer, squirrel and turkey.

The Sylamore National Forest joins the Lower Buffalo River Wilderness area and consists of 130,000 acres of public land open to hunting and trail riding. This area is just a few miles away and is directly accessible from our property across Big Creek.

Also nearby is the “Ducks Head” area of the lower Buffalo National River. Popular trails in this area include Ludlow Gap, Jackson Ridge and Silver Hollow. Directly to the west of the property is the Rock Creek segment of Loafers Glory Wildlife Management area, an approximately 1,300 acre WMA that joins the Buffalo National River.

You can keep your stock in the one-half acre corral next to the cabin. The entire 65 acre property where the cabin is located is fenced with 2 ponds.
